FOURWARD – presents ‘Expansion LP’ – 2hr set

Prepare yourselves for a high performance, sonic onslaught as we introduce the most breathtaking drum & bass outfit to have emerged from Austria in recent years, Fourward.

Influenced heavily by the likes of Bad Company, Noisia and Ed Rush & Optical, the collective formed back in 2007, bringing together a myriad of styles into one slick package to take the scene by storm with huge releases on a host of prestigious labels including Virus, Vision, Audioporn and most recently SGN:LTD and Shogun Audio.

Known for their heavy-hitting, no holds barred approach, Lukas, Ludwig, Dominik and Niklas AKA Fourward, throw down with their inimitable sound design to deliver a stunning new album ‘Expansion’ on Shogun Audio.

Featuring 11 heavy hitting tracks including collaborations with Friction, Mefjus, Jakes, Pep and René the results are staggering, from the dance floor ready ‘Sequencer’ to the heart-wrenching ‘Over’ through to the neck-breaking ‘Bite The Dust’, ‘Expansion’ puts Fourward firmly on the frontline of modern day D&B where they look set to stay for a long very time to come.

CYANTIFIC – 2hr set

Cyantific AKA Jon Stanley, has been at the forefront of drum and bass for over a decade. Known for devotion to his decks, pinpoint accuracy in the mix and his ability to construct dance floor anthems has seen Cyantific DJ around the globe.

In 2006, Cyantific released his debut album, ‘Ghetto Blaster’ on Hospital Records, and went onto win the BBC 1Xtra Best Newcomer DJ award in 2007. Releases followed on legendary labels like Critical and Ram.

In 2010, CYN Music was established where his skills both as a talent selector and solo producer shone through.

In December 2014, Cyantific signed exclusively with Viper Recordings, and made his debut with ‘Bring You Love’, followed by his #1 single ‘High Water Mark’, alongside his remix of Brookes Brothers – ‘Anthem’ which was selected on BBC 1Xtra’s “A” playlist.

In addition to that he has done official remixes for two UK Top 10 hits with Mike Mago & Dragonette’s ‘Outlines’ & Dr Kucho! & Gregor Salt’s ‘Cant Stop Playing’ (Makes Me High).

His single ‘Colour In Shadows’ feat Benji was premiered on Radio1xtra with Mistajam and was a 2015 Summer Anthem with the B side dancefloor roller ‘No More Heroes’ smashing the beatport charts once again.

After coming back from a South Africa headline tour and a North America NYE mini tour in conjunction with Insomniac and fellow Viper artists InsideInfo and Mob Tactics, he released his first track of 2016 ‘Outatime’ which immediately went to the number one spot on Beatport.

Cyantific continues his exciting journey to the top…

JAKES – (DJ set)

Jakes has many strings to his bow. From being front man to many live acts e.g T.C, Pendulum and Ez Rollerz to being the head of his own genre straddling label Hench Recordings, he has made a lasting mark on the world wide underground bass scene.

Within a few years Jakes has since evolved and furthered his musical reputation from being one of the big name MC’s of drum and bass world to now being one of the pioneer’s of dubstep. In a very short space of time, the progression towards his now trademark style has been applauded by many – and not limited to his chosen passion.

With a globally renowned stature for genre straddling music and inimitable style and having garnered support from legends such as Joker, Skream, Gaslamp Killer, Mary Anne Hobbs, Zeds Dead and Paul Walford to name but a few, the U.K vocalist turned dubstep pacemaker boasts an extensive repertoire that has only expanded and metamorphosed with time.

Not one to sit back on his laurels Jakes has gone on to produce remixes that have topped download charts, score for films The Black Swan – directed by Darren Aronofski and more recently Offender – directed by Ron Scalpello and release on such diverse labels such as Tectonic, Don’t Play, Power of 3, Shogun Audio, Ram and Slit Jockey.

With all this behind him Jakes looks forward to what the future has to hold.

If you’ve been following the Bristol music scene you’ve probably heard the name. The A R Records head honcho has been busy crafting his sound, with his debut release ‘Delicate Lives feat Sula Mae / Sacrifice’ receiving great success back in July.

Fresh from a busy summer of festival bookings and long hours in the studio, he is ready to unleash a whole heap of new material on the night, plus a lot of exclusives forthcoming on the label.

Still using the much discussed vinyl format on 3 or more turntables, Exposure DJ sets are full of energy and span the full spectrum of Drum and Bass. With fast lightning and varied mixing, he drops fresh unheard dubplates to classics that you haven’t heard for years.

Exposure takes his name from his style of seamlessly blending between the hard and the dark, through to the soft and light, taking you on a journey through everything in between.

Alex Pavlou aka Phaction’s passion for music was founded through a love of drumming from an early age. He moved to Bristol in 2007 where his growing fascination for Drum and Bass music was catalysed by the diverse vibe and nightlife of the city.

After learning to mix and playing out live with high energy sets he began craving a new challenge and sought a different medium through which to express his creativity.

His journey into music production began in 2013. Inspired by the sounds of city and music all around him, his love ranges widely from classical and jazz through to film scores and even metal, which have become intrinsic in the vibe of his productions.

His first finished piece of music was recently picked up by tutor and mentor Arclight and subsequently the label boss of Liquicity. His debut track ‘Someone’ was released on the label’s compilation album Escapism Volume 2 in November 2014 and features the vocals of Katkin Willow, an exceptionally talented singer following a similar dream.

Since then he reached out to Marco, the founder of Fokuz Recordings and has since made his label debut with the Vapour and Stratos EPs, with Stratos gaining support from the likes of Total Science, Technimatic, LSB, FD and Tokyo Prose.

2016 has been a busy year for the fledgling producer, with a remix from Total Science collaborations with GLXY and Hugh Hardie, an EP in the works for CIA, DJ sets at Hospitality Bristol and London and much more.

With an increasing proficiency in the art of making good quality music and releases planned with A R Records for the future, Phaction is set for big things.

Ill Truth, formely known as Despicable Youth, are two spritely young lads from Bristol. They met at Bridgewater College whilst studying music production. Through a mutual love of Drum and Bass and the art of production, this stellar collaboration was formed.

Typically known for their darker soundscapes and rolling drums, ill Truth are rising fast up the UK ranks, gaining support from icons including DJ Marky, Friction, Exposure, Doc Scott, Bailey, Grooverider, BTK, Nicky Blackmarket, June Miller, Ivy Lab, Basher and more.

Their quick style of DJ-ing first got them noticed by Bristol collective Liquifyah and through that collaboration they’re now well established within the city and the wider south west, playing stages at Glastonbury Festival 3 years running and becoming residents at legendary Bristol event Mutiny.
They have releases with Lockdown Recordings, AFT Records, Lifestyle Music, Hospital Records, with plans to release on A R in the near future.

Nuklear MC, a name that people have seen a lot of over these recent years. Hailing from the UK, he first started out on his journey in the world of Drum & Bass in 2009. From hosting local house parties on the mic to performing live on stage in night clubs and at raves across the country.
Known for his solid and low toned voice, Nuklear has a sharp ear for a good beat and ability to pick up on a vibe that will have him laying down his gritty lyrical content, that will compliment the music with cold and dark energy.
Continuing to hone his skills with the music that inspired him, he has learned a lot in the process by finding out there is so much more to making a vocal track than just recording the lyrics and adding a few effects.

Gaining notoriety and starting to work with an array of talented producers, Nuklear has built up quite a playlist. One of his most popular collaborations was released on Eatbrain’s epic first album “Tales Of The Undead”. A monstrous track named “Killcode”produced by Qo and then later remixed by Mindscape, where Nuklear’s vocals sound deep, twisted and evil. One to really get the crowd going crazy and the start of many more features to come with the Eatbrain family as he has said it is his favourite sound. Also teaming up with Italian producer Maztek, notching up two releases, one track called “What We Bring” released on BTK’s label Dutty Audio, and the other called “Crank It Up” that was released on the legendary Renegade Hardware. Nuklear later joined forces with BTK & Optiv to create the heavy track “Ground Shaker” featuring on their “Blackjack LP” released on Virus recordings. Most recently working with Audio & Prolix for the track “Creatures” on Audio’s mighty album “Beastmode” out on Ram Records, a real dance floor killer!

Through his explosive lyrics and dedication to Drum & Bass, Nuklear has gained recognition from figures across the industry and being known for having an atmospheric presence on the live stage. Having worked live on set alongside some of the leading artists such as Chase & Status, DJ Fresh, Nero, Audio, Calyx & Teebee, Jade & Mindscape to name just a few. Performing at iconic venues such as Fabric and Ministry of Sound in London and being a resident MC for the legendary Renegade Hardware night.
By the sounds of it, Nuklear has plenty more in store for us all and it doesn’t look like this guy is going to be slowing down any time soon.
